  Born and raised in Baldwin, Florida, The Rev. Joanie Cruce attended the Baldwin Methodist church until she married and moved to Madison, Fl in 1981. Upon her move, she attended the First United Methodist Church and New Home Baptist Church. In 2007, The Rev. Cruce became a confirmed member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Perry, Florida. In 2015, she transferred her letter from St. James to St. Mary’s in Madison, Fl. 

The Rev. Cruce is the Chapter President of St. Mary and Martha’s Chapter order of the Daughters of the King, a member of the church Altar Guild, and served as a vestry member. 

In 2012, The Rev. Cruce earned her Master’s in Nursing degree from Walden University. She’s been a nurse for over 28 years holding various leadership roles throughout her career. Some notable achievements include employment as an RN at Madison County Memorial Hospital and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, RN instructor, faculty member at the North Florida Community College, nursing director of the Taylor County Health Department, and has been employed with the Veterans Health Administration for the past 6 years. 

On Saturday May 6, 2023, The Rev. Joanie Cruce was ordained as our newest deacon. On November 18, 2023 she was ordained as our new Vicar.
